the guidebook is a notational system and tool designed to prompt and help organize those with communication impairments personal recall. this conversational system can compensate for their diminished capacity to express themselves using written and spoken language conventions such as the dictionary and it’s alphabetical structure for organization.
planed with the affordances of a touch screen device the guidebook enables individuals to interact naturally through gesture without the use of any mechanical devices. upon entrance to the guidebook individuals will have the option of using their individually configured database or the general arrangement. using the metaphor of a map routes an individual in a conversational or language journey. each letter of the alphabet is represented as a cluster of words that continuously change. individual’s can format their guidebook to operate primarily through images depending on their abilities and language tools. upon touching the icon, the user’s recent language paths as well as alphabetical categories represented as their personal images are seen.
